Lazy Cabbage Rolls
Cabbage rolls:
400g cabbage
350g beef
1 egg
salt and pepper to taste
Sauce:
1 red bell pepper
1 carrot
1/2 onion
1 clove garlic (optional)
2 tablespoons oil
200g ketchup
200g water
salt and pepper to taste
Chop cabbage finely. Add some salt to cabbage and let sit while you prepare other things.
Chop onion and bell pepper. Grate carrot. If using garlic, mash with the side of a knife and mince.
Drain cabbage if necessary. Combine cabbage with beef, egg, and spices.
Fry onion. When onion becomes transparent, add garlic (if using). Let fry for 30 seconds then add carrot and bell pepper. Fry briefly then add water, ketchup, and spices. Let sauce cook until it begins to reduce.
Remove sauce from pan. Make beef mixture into balls. Fry on both sides. Add sauce. Cover. Cook 15 minutes or until balls are cooked through.
